Its first market-based transmission was launched on March 8, 1949, and the founder of the station was Fort Industry Company which is based in Toledo, Ohio. It also owned the radio broadcasting assets of WAGA and later they decided to change the company name into Storer Broadcasting which was taken from the owner George storer. Fox 5 become the second oldest television network in the broadcasting market of Atlanta and WSB-TV was also launched after a couple of months. CBS affiliation was adopted due to WAGA radio transmission and also carried secondary affiliation from DuMont Television Network. ABC programming was shared with WSB television until September 1951 when WLTV was on-aired as an official service provider to the viewers. It became the first television network in Atlanta with no channel switching from its first launch in the market meanwhile WLTV and WSB was earlier operated on channel 8.
