The priests operate St. Norbert College in De Pere, and already runs WBAY radio (1360 AM, now WTAQ) in Green Bay and WHBY ABC radio in Appleton. WBAY basically carried production from all four networks of the day.

NBC shifted to Marinette’s WMBV-TV. It was when it logged on in 1954, with WNAM-TV from Neenah. It took the ABC association upon its 1955 launch. WBAY ABC News became an exclusive CBS associate when DuMont was a shutdown of in 1956. It remained the only channel authorized to Green Bay proper till 1959. Channel 2 improved its transmitting tower and started telecasting network production in color around 1959. Regionally produced programs were telecast in color starting in 1966.

The channel’s offices in Green Bay were constructed in 1924. The previous gymnasium/auditorium is now called the WBAY ABC Auditorium. WBAY is used as the office for the channel’s Cerebral Palsy telethon. Throughout the early years of WBAY News ABC, it worked as the main office. In 1954 an addition was constructed behind the main building. The auditorium has also been used for regional theatrical productions. The channel’s news studio is in the basement of the building. It is the area that initially held a swimming pool and bowling alley.
