WTNZ FOX was sold to FCVS Communications. They were the owners of WACH in Columbia, South Carolina in 1990. FCVS sold all three of its channels to Ellis Communications in 1993.

The channels were WKCH and WACH, plus WEVU-TV which is now WTNZ FOX. In 1994, the channel changed call letters to the current WTNZ. On June 25, 2018, Raycom Media declared that it decided to be auctioned to Gray Television. Gray will keep its current duopoly of WVLT and WBXX-TV. He would sell WTNZ to a third party.
